<div itemprop="description">Dawna Mislan passed away peacefully in the embrace of her children, grandchildren and family on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Dawna will be missed by her son, Ryan Mislan of Calgary; her daughter Briana Mislan (Joe D&rsquo;Arcey) and their children, Bristol and Arlington of Revelstoke, BC as well as by her extended family. She was predeceased by her soulmate, Bud Kaughman in 2012. <br /> <br />Dawna was born in Calgary where she grew into a passionate and motivated woman. She graduated as an RN in 1974 from Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. Dawna pursued nursing and quickly evolved her career to focus on Occupational Health and Safety. She worked tirelessly on the development of health, safety, education and environmental programs. Dawna was incredibly dedicated to her work and over the years her devotion was recognized with many awards and citations. Dawna said that her vocation provided the opportunity to make a difference by using her education, experience; skills and abilities to contribute to the community. <br /> <br />In 1986 Dawna and Bud moved to Red Deer, where they immediately began working to make their dreams a reality. They built a home in the country, raised horses, traveled and experienced every moment they could in the mountains. <br /> <br />A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48A Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta. The family wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff on Unit 32, for their excellent care and attention. <br /> <br />In Dawna&rsquo;s memory a tree will be planted in the mountains that she and Bud loved so much. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dawna&rsquo;s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross, the Salvation Army or to a charity of the donor&rsquo;s choice.</div>
