Jessie Heinrich Merklin
February 14, 1992 - June 10, 2013
We are very saddened to announce the passing of Jessie Heinrich Merklin on June 10, 2013 at the age of 21 due to an unknown heart condition. Jessie was born on February 14th, 1992 in Rocky Mountain House and spent his time between there and Condor while growing up and numerous hours at the arena with Gram and Papa. He graduated from St. Matthew’s School and went on to S.A.I.T., where he recently completed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Technology with Honors. He was most recently employed by Northern Air Support, and previously employed by Kal Tire, where he learned about a lot more than tires.
Jessie was an avid hockey player and got to play for team Canada in Europe. He also got to drop the puck for the World under 17 Hockey Tournament for being the youngest player in Rocky. He loved sports and snowboarding had become his latest endeavour, which he passed on to his sisters and brothers.
Jessie was kind hearted, and had a zest for life and a love for his family whether it be two legged or four legged. His loss will leave a deep hole in the hearts of many!
Jessie will be sadly missed by his mother, Chris Hammonds and Jesse Prefontaine; his sisters, Sydney and Jaycee Remillard and Madeline Prefontaine of Rocky Mountain House; his father, Heinrich and stepmom Alana Merklin and little brothers Caiden and Tristan all of Condor; great grandpa, Gordon Hammonds; great grandma, Joy Hammonds; great grandma, Lucille Hankinson; grandpa, Tony Hammonds; Oma, Margarete Merklin; and grandma and grandpa Wapple. He will also be mourned by his very special girlfriend, Lexi Anderson; his uncles and aunts, Marie and Lowell Scott, Bobbie Cermak, Dave and Debbie Hammonds, Mike and Shiela Hammonds, Bob Hammonds, Andy Hammonds, Paul and Heather Hammonds, Rose Merklin, Peter Merklin, Jean Merklin, Robert Merklin, Viola and Bruce Machan, Hans and Donna Merklin, Wilhelm Merklin, Shawna and Darren Frizzley, Shannon and Cam Beach; his cousins, Cole and McKenna Hammonds, Jason and Jennifer Scott, Mark Scott, Valerie and Marilyn Hammonds, Corrine and Derek Hammonds, Connor, Tannis and Megan Engman, Emmy and Cody Kreil, Taylor and Hayden Lee, Tessa and Kayln Cermak, Colton Hammonds, Everleigh Koehli, Jake, Ava and Chan Remillard, Eric, Carla, Alex and Jesse Merklin, Gerry and Christopher Merklin, Jerrica and Jordan Battagliola, Shyann and James Wright, Lexus Doyle, Tanner Merklin, Shelby and Connor Frizzley and Shane and Chelsea Beach. He will also be remembered by his extended family. Jessie was predeceased by his special Gram, Rita Hammonds; Opa, Frederick Merklin; grandmother, Shirley Remillard; aunt, Barbara Merklin; uncle, Otto Merklin; and stepfather, Wade Remillard.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rocky Arena Complex, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
