FLETCHER, Margaret

Margaret Olivia Fletcher

Born May 23rd, 1936 and Passed away August 19th, 2016.

Our Mother, Grandma, Grammy, Great Grandma and Friend passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 19th, 2016 at the Lacombe Hospital. She was 80 years old.

She was Mom to Michele Zachedniak of Red Deer, Darcy (Joanne) Reynolds of Calgary and Danny Reynolds of Calgary. She was Grandma to Krystle Franks of Calgary, Dustin Franks (Miguel) of Calgary, Allan Reynolds (Lisa Lawless) of Calgary, Jane Reynolds (Ayad Khainia) and their child Khloe Khainia of Calgary, Crystal Upstone (Brandon Upstone) and their children Easton and Tatum of Langdon, and Eddy Sheils (Alicia Sheils) and their children Logan and Kylie Sheils of Calgary. She also leaves behind her best friend of 62 years Marj (Don) Cassidy of Red Deer. As well as many extended family members and friends.

Our Mother and Grandmother was predeceased by her “Teddy”, the love of her life, our Grandpa, Father, Brother and Friend, Orville Fletcher in 1998. They met in 1973, lived in Calgary for a number of years and spent the remainder of their days together enjoying the sun from their beautiful home in Salmon Arm B.C. You’ve been so patient Grandma. You are finally together again.

She was born in Irma, Alberta. Adopted at a young age by her Mom Elizabeth Bratton. She lived in Victoria, B.C before moving to Ireland as a teenage girl where she spent some of the most memorable times of her life. She always took great pride in her Irish upbringing. She was given the choice to stay in Ireland or come back to Canada. She chose to live in Calgary. Calgary was home to her and where she raised her three children and worked as a court clerk for several years.

Many years of her life were spent in the company of good friends and loving family. They were years full of picnics at Riley Park, camping adventures, Aspen Beach camp outs playing horse shoes and lawn darts, gatherings at the family farm west of Bentley, trips to Bermuda, Hawaii and eastern Canada. Grandma had a soft spot for animals and loved many over her life. Today she leaves behind her cat Smokey. Smokey was only nice to our Grandma, but he was her “boy”.

She loved to take care of her family and her friends. Some of the fondest memories that we as a family can recall, is making the trip out to Salmon Arm to spend time with her. Grandma would take care of you. Every man, woman and child would wait patiently for her baked bread to come out of the oven. There would be an inch of fresh farm butter and her strawberry or raspberry jam on top of each slice. Her cooking and baking was Christmas morning to us. She always said the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Our Grandpa was sure one lucky guy.

You will be so missed, you are so loved and we are so grateful you went peacefully and painlessly to be with Grandpa. You sure lived the good life and took care of us all. It is always hard to let go of the people that are the biggest fans of our lives, but we are so grateful to be a part of yours Mom, Grandma and Friend. We love you, we miss you and we thank you.
