Marion Haarstad
January 23, 1938 - March 5, 2017
Marion Veronica Haarstad (née Metro) was born on January 23rd 1938 in Ponoka, Alberta to the late Steven and Frances Metro. She passed away peacefully March 5th, 2017 surrounded by family in Lacombe, Alberta.
Marion is predeceased by her loving husband Clarence Haarstad, her brothers Frank Metro, and Joe Metro; and her daughter and son-in-law, Anna-Marie Remple and Donald Remple.
Marion is survived by her children, Loretta (Dan) McLellan; Susan (Michael) Sargeant; Ed (Wendy) Haarstad; Wayne (Janet) Haarstad, all of whom reside in the Lacombe area, her sisters, Fran (Bruce) McMillen; Rose (Ray) Brunet, her brother, Alfred (Darlene) Metro and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Christensen, Evie Andrews, and Helen Butcher. She leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and she will be missed by numerous extended family members and friends.
Marion loved her family fiercely. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching and cheering them on in their many sporting events. She especially loved watching curling during the winter and cheering on the Blue Jays throughout the summer. She could often be found visiting with friends and family over a hot cup of coffee; and she had the ability to make anyone feel welcome in her home and in her presence. She was truly one of a kind, and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
