MYHR, Patricia Jane
1954-2016

Patricia Jane Myhr passed away October 16, 2016 at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 61. She was born on October 23rd, 1954 in Preeceville, Saskatchewan to Fred and Helen (Hackman) Leason. Patti was educated in Preeceville and was a member of the Explorers and CGIT in the United Church. She was an avid player on the schools hockey and broomball teams and also managed to work part time from age 12 for Esther and Ed Paul doing housework and laundry for 5 years. Patti also always had a compassionate place in her heart for her pets that brought her so much joy.

Patti met the love of her life and married Arden Gary Myhr on November 6, 1971. They were married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preeceville with a candlelight service at 6:00pm and -30 degree weather.
After their marriage, they moved to the Thorson family farm where Gary worked in their dairy operation. On April 7, 1972, Fredrick Arthur was born and sadly passed away April 16, 1972. Patti and Gary then moved to the Myhr family farm to work with Pa Arthur, brother Brian, and uncles Emil and Hank. Two more beautiful children arrived, Lisa Jane on March 9, 1973 and Marlon Gary on July 11, 1976.

In June 1977 Patti started working at the Preeceville Union Hospital as an admitting clerk/receptionist. She continued to advance to administrative assistant over the course of 25 years.

Patti and Gary moved into town in 1978 but eventually found they did not like “farming from town” and in 1987 decided to build their own farm on the hill north of the Myhr homestead. This was finally home. Many years of hard work continued with cattle and grain farming along with employment off the farm for both Patti and Gary.

Amidst her ultra-busy life, Patti loved to cook and entertain large family gatherings and spend time visiting and connecting with friends over a glass of wine. Shopping and gift giving were one of her greatest pleasures, for making others happy was so important to her.

In 2002, Patti’s children and the excitement for grandchildren were enough to convince Gary it was time to leave home (Preeceville) and venture off to Alberta. The next twelve years for Patti were filled with her dear family, travelling, camping, and many new friends along the way.

On February 1st, 2015, Patti was left an empty shell and lost soul after Gary’s devastating defeat with cancer. All too young and too soon, being together for over 43 years. Patti’s life revolved around Gary. She would have done anything for him and loved him more than life itself. Shockingly, one year later Patti was faced with her own battle with cancer and although her dearest family and friends meant the world to her she was finally completing her journey and was received by her loving Savior, where her beloved was waiting...

“Two shall become one. We did it!”

Patti was predeceased by her loving husband Arden Gary Myhr in 2015; infant son Fredrick Arthur in 1972; father Fred Leason in 1994; grandparents John Hackman in 1984, Natalia (Marnovich) Hackman in 1989, Onufry Leason in 1969, and Veronica (Soyko) Leason in 1968; father in law Arthur Myhr in 1993; mother in law Gladys (Meberg) Myhr in 2000, and many aunts and uncles who were very dear friends.

She is survived by her mother Helen (Hackman) Leason, daughter Lisa (Desmond) Serhan and children Jake and Jena; son Marlon (Andrea) and children Wyatt, Seth, and Maximus; brother Harold (Bev) Leason, nephew Brent (Krista) Leason and children Carter, Ella, and Tessa; nieces Kim Leason and son Ryder; Heather (Eric) Hennie and children Austin, Bryson, and Colten; Laura (Zachary) Kennedy and children Karlee, Aubree, and Leah; cousin Sheila (Gene) Klebeck and son Sylvan; sister in law Marion Birkett; nephew Drew (Amanda) Birkett and children Josie and Olivia; nieces Allison (Brett) Birkett and Whitney (Josh) Striha and son Asher; uncle Fred (Alice) Hackman, auntie Ann (Leason) Perras, auntie Pauline (Allan) Rogoza, auntie Irene (Stan) Kawa, uncle Bill (Ann) Leason, auntie Mary and uncle Toby Tokaruk, and auntie Irene Leason.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Good Sheppard, 40 Holmes Street, Red Deer, Alberta.
